KOCHI: Friends have revealed the last wishes of incumbent MLA and KPCC Chairman PT Thomas who died on Wednesday. The MP’s friend Dijo Kappan said before his death he told him his body should be cremated and his ashes should be placed on his mother’s grave in Upputhode. Talks are underway to cremate the body according to his wishes.
Dijo Kappan revealed that Thomas wanted his body to be cremated at Ravipuram Cemetery in Ernakulam and also that a wreath should not be kept on his body. He also wanted to play the old Malayalam film song ‘Chandrakalabham’ in a low voice when the body is kept for the audience to pay their respects.
Thomas died this morning at 10:15 a.m. He was undergoing cancer treatment at Velloor Christian Medical College. He was an MP for Thrikkkakara constituency. He was four times a provincial deputy and once a deputy for Idukki. He had served as KSU Idukki District Chairman, State General Secretary, State Chairman, etc.
He was elected MP for Idukki Lok Sabha constituency in 2009. He had written a book titled “ADB and Ideologies”. PT Thomas was a leader who always took a strong stand on environmental protection. His positive stance on the Gadgil issue has been widely noted.
