The organization’s group sponsorship program surpasses $17 million Donated to like-minded charities, community programs and civic groups nationwide
COLUMBIA FALLS, Maine, June 28, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The national nonprofit organization Wreaths Across America (WAA) is celebrating its annual Giving in July campaign, a month dedicated to groups and individuals who give back to their communities while helping to share the mission throughout the year of remembering the dead, honoring those who serve and their families, and teaching the next generation the value of freedom.
Since its founding in 2007, WAA has partnered with hundreds of like-minded charities, community programs and civic groups across the country to remember and honor veterans and active duty service members of our country throughout the year. Giving in July celebrates these groups and highlights the possibility of giving back to them by sponsoring Veterans Wreaths through the organization’s Group Sponsorship Program. Through the program, WAA gives back $5 of each $15 sponsorship of wreaths to support the local group’s initiative, which includes programs helping veterans, military families, youth and more, in communities across the country. Through this national program, the WAA has given back more than $17 million of local contributions over the past 14 years.
“It would be dishonest for us, as an organization whose mission is to remember, honor and teach, if we did not support other like-minded programs serving their communities,” said the WAA Executive Director Karen Worcester. “Our group sponsorship program is a year-round endeavor, and our team provides the tools to succeed. Through Giving in July, we hope people will remember that it’s never too early to make a difference in your own community.”
This year, more than 3,100 locations will participate in National Wreaths Day across America – Saturday, December 17, 2022 — and more than 4,000 sponsorship groups are working in their communities to raise awareness and the necessary wreath sponsorships to honor all of their local service members buried with the placement of veterans’ wreaths live in December. Examples of the type of groups that participate include, Daughters of the American Revolution Chapters, Civilian Air Patrol Squadrons, Scouting Groups, VFW, Young Marinespatriotic motorcycle clubs, school groups and veterans service organizations of all sizes. “Like the well-known ‘Christmas in July’ concept, considering our own charity during the summer months gives us the opportunity to encourage others to get involved early in the WAA mission and to support veterans and the families of our country’s military in the communities where they live, now,” Worcester concluded.
