City of HCM (VNA) – A special floating flower market opened at Binh Dong Park in District 8 of Ho Chi Minh City on Jan. 27 to meet locals’ growing demand for flowers and entertainment during the Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday. ).
According to Nguyen Thi Thu Hoa, vice president of the district people’s committee, after nine years of organization, the market has become one of the most attractive spring tourist destinations in the district and the city as a whole.

The floating market, along the Tau Hu-Ben Nghe canal, will remain open until January 31 – the last day of the lunar year – bringing together over 500 vendors from many famous flower centers such as Ben Tre, Tien Giang, Vinh Long, Dong Thap and Lam Dong.
In addition to flowers and ornamental plants, visitors can also enjoy artistic performances and “don ca tai tu” (southern amateur song), decorative art and a photo exhibition.
This year’s event also includes competitions for decorating floating flower boats and flower houses; manufacturing Banh Chung (the cube-shaped rice cake) and Banh Tet (the cylindrical-shaped rice cake); flower arrangement; and a photo contest on the theme of the beauty of the city floating flower market.

The same day, a Tet Flower Market was also opened in District 12, as well as a flower street on Le Thi Rieng Street in the district.
