Vijayawada / Guntur: There was a huge rush for flowers at the Rajiv Gandhi Wholesale Flower Market located near the MVC office. Thousands of consumers and retail traders flocked to the market to purchase the flowers to celebrate the auspicious Varalakshmi Vratam, one of the state’s important festivals.
Rajiv Gandhi’s Flower Market is well known in the state. Flowers are imported here not only from parts of Andhra Pradesh, but also from the state of Karnataka. Flower prices have skyrocketed due to the huge demand. More than 70 shops can be found in the flower market. Roses, lilies, marigold, jasmine and other flowers are in great demand. Consumers are shocked by flowers being sold at exorbitant prices.
Flower prices vary greatly from May and June. Due to the impact of the Covid, the prices of flowers had fallen drastically. Now the prices have skyrocketed as people happily buy them to celebrate important events like housewarming ceremonies, birthdays and other occasions.
