Toronto Flower Market vendors share their favorite spots for the freshest Mother’s Day flowers

Natasa Kajganic recalls her 2012 visit to the Columbia Road Flower Market in London, England, as an overall multi-sensory experience. “A narrow cobblestone road lined on both sides with tents overflowing with colorful flowers,” she recalls. “A smell of nature and freshness, while the sellers shouted their offers. Upon returning to Canada, she was surprised there wasn’t something similar here, so she decided to start Toronto’s first-ever flower market in 2013.

This first year had only 12 suppliers; now, more than three dozen florists share their beautiful bouquets at TD Commons Park at CAMH once a month during the summer, starting May 7. (They even hosted a virtual marketplace through Shopify in 2020.)

The Toronto Flower Market fosters connections between farmers, florists and consumers, she adds. “Only together can we develop lasting social impact, which in turn will benefit local economies and provide Canadians with the best quality flowers. »
